Caleta de Vélez is a delightful fishing community situated on the coast 30 km east of Málaga. Ideally situated, the town is within easy reach of Málaga airport and other amenities close by include the El Ingenio shopping centre, the local hospital comarcal and the popular 18-hole Baviera golf course.
Caleta is a fantastic location with lots to offer and the town itself has many shops, bars and restaurants. The beaches are superb and, together with Torre del Mar, Mezquitilla and Algarrobo Costa, the promenade stretches for 8 km and is a great place for walking and cycling.
Caleta is famed for its fresh fish and shellfish and the harbour and fish market are distinctive features of the town. Every afternoon, except during public holidays, the fish auction at the harbour is an experience not to be missed. The marina adjacent to the fishing harbour has a vast array of boats and yachts and the abundant sea life present in the bay of Caleta make it a fisherman's paradise.
