The beautiful coastal town of Torre del Mar is situated 28 km from Málaga. The town boasts a wide variety of shops, bars and restaurants and the fabulous beach stretches from the landmark lighthouse in the west of the town to the adjoining fishing village of Caleta de Vélez to the east. The promenade offers an easy picturesque walk along the seafront between Torre and Caleta with numerous seaside bars available for a refreshment stop. Sunday is a great day to do this with many Spanish families out for a stroll dressed in their Sunday best. Thursday is the day of the popular market – one of the best in the area and well worth a visit. As well as tourism and fishing, Torre del Mar is also an important area for the growing of fruit and vegetables.
